At Casa Vida we provide mainly teenaged children in Peru with a home in a warm, loving and family environment, where we endeavour to promote their developmental and educational needs, so that they may be enabled to enjoy bright and fulfilling futures.

We put much emphasis upon their education, as it is felt that this is the way out of the poverty trap in which many Peruvians are caught. The boys attend a school in the local town of Pachacamac and we provide them all with additional tutoring at the Home. One of our boys is currently studying at university and another boy is blind and we have provided him with specialist Braille equipment to enable him to study.

Education is particularly important in Peru, where a significant proportion of children never complete their schooling, as they are sent out to work in order to help support their families. Fact:  30% of Peruvian children aged 6 – 17 work to support their families  (C.I.A. Factbook).

We also encourage the healthy development of the children through eating plans, regular physical and mental health checks and participation in sporting activities.  This is most important in a country where 43% of children suffer from anaemia due to malnutrition (Wikipedia).
